What We Got Here is Failure to Communicate

 

If it wasn’t apparent before, it has to now be clear to all, that from the president on down we are being governed by a collection of clowns and circus sideshow oddities. We are a country run by idiots. Pam Bondi’s recent clownish behavior before Congress where she refused to answer questions and read from a burn book of opposition research instead, showed the nation that she is nothing more than Trump’s personal lawyer. She has not bothered to investigate the men in the Epstein files but has been busy redacting their names while releasing the names of victims.

Kash Patel’s total ineptitude running the FBI has been on full display as he has regularly jumped in front of cameras to announce breakthroughs in major cases only to be forced to back peddle moments later. In the Charlie Kirk shooting he announced they had captured the shooter. Ninety minutes later he announced they released that suspect after a brief interrogation. He did the same thing in the Brown University shooting claiming his FBI had detained a person of interest and then he announced his release. More recently in the Nancy Guthrie case he called in to Fox News to announce they had detained a person of interest but on February 10th the man “detained for questioning” was released.

Yesterday, February 11th, the El Paso Airport and all airspace over El Paso, Texas was shut down by members of the Trump clown show due to inexperience and a total lack of coordination. The announced shutdown of the airport for 10 days was sudden and unplanned. Flights were cancelled, vacations were ruined, medical helicopters were forced to reroute, and all aircraft were warned that lethal force would be used to enforce the grounding.

The FAA is under Kristi Noem, another occupant of the Trump Clown Car. Ms. Noem is the Secretary of Homeland Security and came to the job with no law enforcement background. The Defense Department is under Pete Hegseth, another inexperienced clown in this debacle. Sean Duffy is the Transportation Secretary. It was Mr. Duffy who announced that the FAA had halted an incursion by Mexican drug cartel drones and that “the threat had been neutralized.” The Pentagon issued a similar statement mirroring the one by the FAA.

This whole Keystone Kops level operation was just another example of the inexperience and ineptitude of the Trump Circus. It seems that Customs and Border Protection officials deployed an anti-drone laser on loan from Hegseth’s Dept. of Defense without coordinating with aviation officials to assess the risks to commercial aircraft.

There was no coordination with the city, the airport, hospitals, or community leadership. The FAA then announced the abrupt closure of all airspace for ten days. They failed to tell the White House or the Pentagon ahead of time. To quote Strother Martin as Captain from Cool Hand Luke, “What we’ve got here is…, failure to communicate.” Within eight hours of the new ten-day closure, the FAA announced the equivalent of, "nevermind."

The fact that the “drug cartel drone” turned out to be a runaway party balloon was of no consequence. An entire city was brought to its knees by a crowded clown car on a collision course with a small balloon. Since this "threat has been neutralized," one can only wonder if that party balloon was destroyed or was it released on its own recognizance.
