At this late date it is difficult to see how Donald Trump comes out of this war in Iran with anything that looks like progress. He will probably follow his time-honored strategy. Walk away, declare victory, and change the narrative. He has had extensive practice with failure including Trump Airlines, Trump Mortgage, Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump: The Game, Trump Magazine, Trump Ice, and GoTrump dot com. Add to this list eleven Chapter 11 bankruptcies of his casino and hotel properties and you have a man comfortable with failure.
Trump listened to Benjamin Netanyahu and thought he could join him in a quick military victory over the “less powerful” Iran. He assumed that America’s huge military advantage would be enough to add another jewel to his crown. He discounted the fact that Iran already had a WMD. Not a Weapon of Mass Destruction, but a Weapon of Mass Disruption with the Hormuz Strait. Trump assumed “might makes right.” He has obviously never spent the night in a tent with a mosquito.
Trump’s “victory” in all of this will not come on the battlefield or at the negotiating table. Victory will come in his personal finances. His family’s recent investments in military-related stocks will all benefit when the United States needs to raise the national debt to replenish its stockpiles of missiles and expand into the drone market. Trump’s folly is our loss, not his. He has taken the, “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO YOU” message on the back of his wife’s jacket to heart
